We started getting hungry and looked at the atlas to find that El Centro was the next town. We picked a diner but then found out we had to drive through an RV park to get to it, so we landed at a place just off the freeway called Mexicali Taco. Although we felt like we were the only ones in the restaurant who weren’t coming in after church for Sunday dinner, it looked like good food, so we settled in. We didn’t want anything big because we knew we were going to have a big dinner, so we ordered from the a la carte menu, which was extensive. He got two pollo asada (chicken) tacos, and I got one carne asada (beef) taco and one fish taco. They had lots of different salsas, cilantro and onions, lime wedges, and avocado cream sauce to add to the tacos. It was authentic and delicious, and I washed it down with a tasty horchata (a cinnamon rice milk).
britney, i love that you guys did this! so fun. good choice with the horchata!
