Our fridge hasn't been this empty...

...since the day we moved into our place! This past week, my husband, Michael, and I have been playing the "eat everything left in the fridge and avoid the grocery store" game in preparation for a 13 day journey across the southwestern United States. Tomorrow morning (or I guess, technically, later this morning) we will leave our home in Austin, TX to embark on a road trip focused on food, fun, family, and friends. We have planned a "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives" style trip through many major (and some not-so-major) cities in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California, where we will be visiting several locally owned restaurants and savoring the local cuisine. On each of our stops (with the exception of the "just for fun" stop in Lake Havasu City), we will be visiting friends and/or family and inviting them to join us at (or dragging them with us to) a well-reviewed hole in the wall that may not look like much on the outside but is sure to satisfy our taste buds on the inside. Between stops, we will be exploring some well-known (and some less well-known) roads in the southwest. I will do my best to keep this site updated with pictures and anecdotes from our adventure. Hope you enjoy following along in our fun!
