No, not peanut butter and tacos, Pacific Beach and tacos! After visiting Balboa Park, we drove out to the beach to visit the pier and our friend Sean’s favorite taco place. We found a very fortunate parking spot and took a short trek to “Taco Surf.” I decided on rolled tacos filled with shredded chicken, which were topped with generous portions of guacamole and shredded cheese; Sean got the shredded chicken burrito; and Michael ordered the daily special, a bean tostada, beef taco, and beef rolled taco, topped with a heap of shredded lettuce and cheese. We all left satisfied and stuffed.
After lunch, we went out for a stroll on Crystal Pier, where there are cottages that you can rent and “sleep over the ocean.” According to Sean, the cottages are booked out a year and a half to two years in advance. We got to soak up the sun and watch a group of guys surfing on the small afternoon swells. I got to put my feet in the sand and the water before we made the drive back out to east county where we were staying.
